Didn't do anything for me.
I had so much hopes for this Keratin treatment which is also used in salons, but it did absolutely nothing for my hair. I haven't had other Keratin treatments (yet) so I can't really compare it to others, but this one did nothing. I went by the directions exactly, and used the max iron temp specified in the instructions. I waited the necessary time before washing. We all know the true test of Keratin treatments comes after the first wash; so I don't get why some people review before they've washed it. Of course it looks nice after you've flat ironed it into submission. But after the first wash of this, it was right back to normal. Now let me say, I wasn't expecting it to remain straight - I knew my expectation should be reduced frizz and easier to manage. It failed on both accounts. Hair just as frizzy as before, just as hard to manage. Air drys the exact same as it did before, blow drys the exact same as it did before, and even flat irons the exact same as it did before. There is virtually no change on my fine, wavy hair. It still looks as ****** and poofy as it always has. I attribute the failure to a couple things. One, it could be the Blonde formula itself just isn't as strong. Think about it - if it was, why wouldn't they use it on everyone so that no one would be at risk for discoloration? Two, it could be the iron temps specified in the Blonde formula just aren't high enough. You would have thought they'd be plenty for my fine hair strands though, so I think this is less likely to have been the cause. And third, it could be the lack of formaldehyde. While plenty of people have success with zero formaldehyde formulas, I do seem to hear better feedback on the stronger formaldehyde versions. Maybe my hair just needs that, but I'm not doing it at home in my tiny non-ventilated apartment, that's for sure.
Works as described
I have fine, naturally curly, processed hair. I had the regular keratin express done in the salon, however, I did experience the discoloration....I like my blonde pale. The iron at 450 degrees also fried the ends of my fine delicate hair! I saw how easy the treatment was to do - and decided to give this blonde formula a shot. I am only 5 days in - and only washed it once - but so far I do feel it has dramatically improved the overall health/appearance of my hair. I used the lowest heat setting on the iron and didn't wash it for 2 days. My hair is much more manageable and even shows some shine. The regular keratin express treatment washed out of my hair within 4 weeks - and I am feeling like this one may even wash out a week earlier. BUT - I will continue to use this product - such a money saver being able to do it at home. Word to the wise - very easy process to do at home but you may want a friend to help you flat iron!
